Plants for the Bluestone Southern

DavidR… Jane says, she has a shovel, comeon down… She got a little more than half of them planted today… about 25-30 left… holes are dug, she’s just cutting off the bottoms of the pots/containers, so they can be planted…

they are being watered in at the moment…

I don’t think DavidR could keep up with Jane. I know I couldn’t!

Neither can I..... :)

Somebody has to be productive in that household!

The other day, Jane went shopping at Lowe’s and Home Depot for lunch… She found plants on sale for about 3 bucks each, so she bought a couple…

There are 50 of them, in those pictures… Dwarf Alberta Spruces, boxwoods, and some Spyireai

Approx. 2hrs(est) daylight left! Are they in yet!

Awaiting pictures?
Wait perhaps you have the stadium lights on and still working? I’m not gonna sit here tapping my foot, so I’m going to bed! Don’t make me drive out there!

Your going to be taping for a long time.... :)

Yes, they are all in, but I want to do a little more on the roadbed, then take the pictures…

Sure is looking good Andy, nice you got such a good deal. I get hot just looking at your layout, ALL that work, pretty good for an old guy!

Thanks, Jerry… It’s a lot of work, but most times, it’s even enjoyable…

29 august, and the high here today was 69 degrees… Can’t beat that…

Got these pictures taken a few minutes ago… Plants have been planted, and I have been working on shaping out the hill of dirt in Woodlawn…

Let the plants root in during the winter, and plant Thyme in the spring…

Looks great.
My back hurts just thinking about planting that many trees
Ralph

The plants I could handle. It’s the Great Wall Of Nashville that makes me ache looking at it…

That’s looking very nice, Andy. Lots of work done!

After the wall, doing the plants hurt just as bad…

I’m not sure what to think!
Jerry is getting hot looking at your layout and now your doing plants???
I bet it did hurt considering they are miniature pine trees!
I hope you have LARGE batteries for those locos!
Absolutely incredible Andy!

Thanks guys… The railroad is starting to take some shape…

Holy crap - That's amazing. I know you must know a better way than I do for creating the footing for your walls. Takes me days just to get the base trench dug and filled with gravel and the first course leveled for a 5 foot section :(

Andy, how are you going to water all of those plants? It will take hours with a garden hose. Are you going to install a drip irrigation system?

Don't forget...........he has a backhoe.........;)

Ron, mostly they get watered naturally... When it gets real dry, then we water with a sprinkler... A drip system for all the plants would be too expensive.....

Ken, I only have the tractor with a bucket, box blade and a few other attachements… Haven’t got the "“Backhoe” part yet… those be expensive…

Jon, We just trench out the base, fill in with ““Aglime””, higher than I want the first course, then place in the bottom brick/block and hammer in with a rubber hammer, until level, then move on to the next one… The base course is what’s important, after that’s in, it’s just stacking bricks/blocks…
