Planes, Boats and Planes in Alaska

My wife and I, along with 6 other friends and 34 other Hoosiers just spent a fantastic 10 days touring Alaska. I took 1167 pictures and put some of them (okay, a lot of them) on my web site. I have never done a lot of rail fanning but do enjoy watching trains and all that surrounds them. I decided that I may not get back to Alaska so I shot lots of everything, including trains.

If you would like to see any of our trip or like Alaska Railroad (they still do flag stops for those folks that live ‘off the grid’) you can see the whole thing, including a movie star locomotive, HERE: http://palmeter.com/alaska-2014/

If you just want to sample a train intensive page, check THIS: http://palmeter.com/alaska-2014-07-21/

If one photo is enough:

That must have been one amazing trek David. I always liked the colour scheme of the Alaska RR. Looks like you had a nice view from the double decker car.

Lived off the grid - Mile 239 1/2 in the late 70’s-early 80’s, no electricity, no running water, wood stove for heat- used 7 cords of wood by christmas… To take a shower we had to take the train south to Talkeetna on Saturday, the train home on Sunday… had a fabulous view of Denali the three days a year it wasn’t covered with clouds… Lost all my pictures in the move back east - so My kids don’t believe a word of it… Kind of miss it…

Looks like you had a great time- Thanks for posting the link
