Large Scale Central

Pipe load

I finally got some pipe loads completed for my D&RGW pipe train. The pipe is Evergreen styrene 3/16" diameter tube cut to 21" lengths.

The pipe gondolas are LGB gondolas with the ends cut off. And the idler flats are kitbashed Hartland flat cars. All were repainted and lettered.

Here’s a prototype image:

Nice work Matt. They turned out nice

Matt,Looks great. Ron.

LGB looking like 1:20.3 scale stuff!

Sweet!

Nice work, everything looks great!

That is a interesting load and it looks really good. Neat that you have a prototype photo. Will your RR be using the pipes for a project or are they only passing through?

Matt, the layout looks good.

Ron

They are headed for Farmington… But I’m Not sure if they will get around my tight turns.

Looks great Matt. Any chance I might come by on Monday for a visit? Let me know.

Monday (July 1) should be good, although I’m expecting a conference phone call around 3:00 PM. Shoot me an email ([email protected]) so I can get you directions, etc…

And you’d be surprised at how tight a curve the pipe train will take. Although I don’t have anything as tight as an LGB R1, I think the sharpest curve on the layout is similar to an LGB R2.

As Dave mentions the pipes (on the real D&RGW) headed south to the Farmington oil and gas fields.

Our RR doesn’t go to Farmington so I guess they are passing through.
