PIKO two-bay hoppers

Re Piko offset and rib-side, two bay hoppers.

Are these hoppers a revival of the old MDC hoppers?

They look, from the web site illustrations, suspiciously like reused MDC molds (perhaps with minor differences).

I am trying to duplicate, with custom painting and lettering, the MDC, two bay style hoppers that were offered with Soo Line markings

I need three such hoppers now, so if you have 1, 2, or 3 such hoppers in good condition that you are willing to part with, life becomes somewhat simpler.

Yep. They are the old MDC hoppers.

PIKO got the MDC molds, not sure they have changed anything, I don’t have any to compare though. They have since come out with a flatcar that is the same length as re reefers.

I don’t think they changed anything. The MDC/Roundhouse boxcars and the Piko boxcars are identical. The Piko hoppers look to be the same as the MDC/Roundhouse hoppers. Its a shame though that all the details (ladders and grab irons) are molded onto the cars.

Yeah David, but they look fine from my deck! (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)I like the 1/32nd size also. I do get crazy on detail sometimes though, usually to my passenger cars. Go figure!

I like the smaller size, and I am redoing the details on a set of MDC/Roundhouse hoppers for my railroad right now. The molded on details just bothered me too much.
