Enjoy this video from PIKO CEO Dr. Rene Wilfer! Were taking Pre Orders on all there new items. https://www.trainworld.com/manufacturers/piko-trains/

That GE 25 tonner, gotta have one…or two

Good bashing fodder…

That model costs extra because it comes with cleaning pads and battery operation, AAA cells…

I did not see the video, but will try to embed it here

ahh…same old S**T, https or embed code won’t work if not the first thing.

Posted all by itself works.

Nope nothing there for me. Later RJS

Looks good, hope we can get a link to it.

OK, so the prototype for the little switcher at the show was a 3d model, no handrails etc.

When he holds the underside up, you can see that there is a piece of silicon carbide “drywall sandpaper” cut into a shape and affixed to the normal power pickup shoes.

So, again, this prototype is conveying the idea, not the final product.

But, there’s no “revolutionary” technology to be seen yet. I’m also a bit skeptical about using AAA batteries in the loco, rechargeables don’t have many amp hours of capacity, and even though the loco is small and light, the extra drag of wiping the rails will most likely double the current draw over the loco running “light”.

But, at least you will be able to buy a little switcher to bash, although it will probably make sense to buy the track powered one for the $30-$40 less and “Battery it up” yourself.

Those pads remind me of the LGB track cleaner that clipped under a car. similar pads, works well, this has the advantage of being self-propelled. I dont know how powerful it will be, likely not very, but it would be nice to just set something on the track for a couple laps. I’m interested in the track powered locos.

Vic, watch the video again, no pads, just a oddly shaped piece of drywall sandpaper, clearly a mockup, as it’s not supported by anything, and really you don’t want it spanning the rails.

Go fullscreen and view at 3:10.

The screen material is non conductive. I use it with power on the track on our club layout and my own layout. No problem.

Umm… uhhh… yes the drywall sandpaper is non conductive…

my point was that it was a mockup, could not possibly be how the real product is shipped, and really exactly what I said, no reason to have it span across the track…

(we have a number of track cleaning pads that use drywall sandpaper)

I was hoping to find out more about what the REAL product would have, but clearly we will have to wait.

I picked up one of these at the ECLSTS. While it will be some time before my railroad is runnable, I did take a look at it today.

The cab is rather spartan, in fact, its a small empty

Also in the box is the usual instruction booklet, and a card that shows the spare parts in an easy to understand way.

And the bell, horn and some kind of adapter for adding Kadee couplers to the critter.

The length listed in the manual is 176mm, almost 7 inches long. The manual doesn’t say if that’s just the body shell or it includes couplers. I suspect its just the body shell. I didn’t go searching for a ruler. Also the weight listed is 1300 grams. almost 46 ounces, or 2.86 pounds. The wheels do not have traction tyres, and the thing has skates. So I suspect that in order for her to earn her keep here on the P&CS, she will have to loose the skates.

And for you WM fans, a limited edition one will be produced.
