Large Scale Central

Piko 0-6-0 update

After buying one of these toys cheap on ebay I added a lot of details and repainted it. It ran well for a while, but I put too much weight in it and apparently blew up the motor–it would stall for no apparent reason, and not start unless pushed, and it started running slower in reverse than forward. Opening it up I saw a few of the teeth on the drive axles were damaged. I got so mad at myself for messing it up that I bought another one and swapped out the drive train. I’ll use the second one for parts. I was surprised–the drive looks to be nearly identical to an LGB mogul. I don’t even know how much weight I added as I don’t have a scale. Anyway, it’s back on track with a few more details and less weight. I had a lot of fun with it till I messed it up. Then I got mad and now we’ll see ho it does. It’s a nice looking engine but who knows what scale it’s in, if any. I’m guessing it’s more like 1:22 or maybe 1:24.

needs something under the cab, above the last driver.

Hi Mike I dont know what scale its supposed to be but that driver scales very nicely with my 1/22 figures, I like my Chubby too but still need to add more details

Mike, did you contact Silvergate for repairs?

The re-do looks really nice…one of those look cool on our line!

Cale, I did, and got no reply till after I bought a second one. Silvergate says they will supply parts, but they don’t have them on hand, they order them from Germany. I’ll probably order some parts to get the second one up to speed

Hey Mike, how much weight did you put in it?

Thanks, was curious how the repair and customer service dept worked out with those folks... would this not be an under-warranty repair?

Merry Christmas

edit for 2nd ?

No, I grossly over weighted it. I probably had it weighing about five lbs by the time I was done, although we actually don’t have a scale so I can’t weigh it. I could not in good conscience claim it as a warranty repair

10-4 thanks for the clarification! next time just get a HLW big john!
