OK,
Am I doing something wrong?
In Freight Shed when
I upload the pictures into a file and it says they are uploaded successfully but when I go to look
they are not there. What’s up with that?
Rick
Rick,
What are you seeing when you go back and look?
Ralph
Hi Ralph,
Not seeing anything.
But I think I figured it out.
I tried to upload 5 pictures and it wouldn’t do it I went back and uploaded them 1 and 2 at a time and that seemed to work.
If it won’t upload 5 pictures at a time why have 10 “browse” slots?
I’m slowly learning the ropes around here :)=)
Rick
I’ve had no problems in the past uploading 10 pictures… it just takes a lil time to upload…
It’s possible the file size might determine the number of pictures that can be uploaded at one time.
Ralph
Ralph,
Yeah, file size is probably the main factor but I thought 800X600 was pretty standard.
Maybe just a glitch that will work fine next time I try it, or more likely just operator error.
Rick
Rick,
I use 500 as my max on my pics.
Also name them as easy and simple as you can.
EG: F(Friends items) B(Bachmann) bx(Boxcar) 1,2,3,etc (number of pics for that boxcar)
FBbx1
Rick:
Ralph is probably correct about file size being the limitation.
Here is some information from the LSC home page:
“Members get a 5 megabyte free “My Files” area to upload forum and chat pictures to. For a mere $20/year, you can upgrade that to a full 125 megabyte Freight Shed!
Membership to LSC is free, so why not join today?”
For general internet display (and to accommodate those still on dial-up or metered services), 640 x 480 pixels and less than 125Kb is considered to be ‘polite.’
As an example, I am on a metered service with a total up + down allowance of 5Gb / month. If that is exceeded, it is $.25 / Mb, or $250.00 / Gb! No movies being downloaded here!!

Duplicate post.
Wow,
Metered service…that really sucks.
I hope that doesn’t become the business model of the future.
Ralph
That metered service is common in either Canada or Britain and I think ATT does it on movies. We tried a Verizon “service” for when we go to Quartzsite. I watch some internet programs and we dumped the “service” because watching programs gobbled up the bandwith. And that’s how they treat their customers!
The metered service is from Verizon, using an EVDO modem that connects through the cell phone network. $60 / month for 5Gb (total up + down, with every bit counted) of nationwide service. The overage charge is where it becomes outrageous. Really makes me track my usage on a day by day basis. Good news is that it is a specialized service and probably won’t become the standard business model. But, one never knows what evil lurks in the minds of internet service providers!
We are finally getting DSL here in our small village. I wanted to be one of the first customers when it was announced last month, but my address is not on the list that can get service. Every neighbor on my road either has the new service, or is able to get the service. Mine is the only one excluded.
Numerous AT&T people have admitted that it is incorrect, saying it is a ‘database problem,’ but no one seems to know how to get the database corrected. I have repeatedly asked to talk with the database managers, but no one I have talked to even knows what country the database is maintained in. Really!!
I have spent well over 12 hours on the phone with AT&T people since mid-December, and still no change. I finally found a guy yesterday who says he will get it fixed so I can have the service. He is the first AT&T employee who has actually called me back as promised. I actually got his call at 7:38am this morning asking for more information on my neighbors who are already connected. The rest of the AT&T employees have just ignored their commitment to return my call.
Once again, the telecommunications have been taken over by a worldwide monolith that has absolutely no commitment to customer service. I thought the bell system was broken up by government edict, but AT&T has put it back together. At least when there were regional Bell systems like Pacific Telephone, there were ways to get service. As far as responding to customer problems, AT&T is a total stonewall.
Having the 6Mbps DSL service here at my home / office would really make my digital life better!

Jerry - understand your frustration with ATT. The customer interface box on the side of my house is physically broken and when it rains and my DSL stops, I place a call, spend 20 minutes to get a live person, repeat the issue that they need to replace the box and I would quit having issues. they tell me they see the history and will have someone come out in the next 5 days. 2 days later the box dries out, DSL comes back and I get an email and phone call (automated) telling me the DSL is fixed. If I had a choice, I would move to something else.
Jerry - If you get satisfaction, please pass on his name. I know I’m many states away but have had the exact same issue with their U-Verse service here. I want it, neighbors on both sides have it, but it’s not available it my house
Steve - Just keep pouring water on it on dry days - they’ll show up eventually
Jon:
I’ll let you know what happens. I’m not too hopeful, as AT&T’s customer service response is based on the power of “NO.”

AT&T's customer service
(funny that, coming from someone once employed by them for a few years)
Jerry,
I know your frustration well. We suffered through a number of years of dial up in our rural area and when when DSL through the phone company was made available in our area, all except our lane with 4 homes that is, everything was beautiful except on our lane where it wasn’t all that dadblamed beautiful. Well it eventually got ironed out, and we have had DSL for about 4 years now, not the greatest company but as they say, the only game in town.
Good luck.
Rick
