Pics of the new House Route track

The most important addition this year is the new track to the house so that we can run the trains in and out without the 'ol fingers getting worn out. Connection to the upper part of the main is just out of sight to the left.

Across the new bridge.

Through the woods, looking back toward the main and the new bridge.

Into the mouth of the Boggie man.

4 tracks of storage 12 to 16 feet each.

And thanks to Mosher Tree Service for the aid in prunning the right of way.

Looks good, Larry. I love the retaining wall, I assume you have built a mold for it?

Thanks Bob. No mold same as before 3/4" x12" pvc…about $100 for 18 feet of it. Different spot on the RR but same method

Larry

It looks great. I also like your abutments. That a neat idea.

Rodney

Nice work, back sore?

Those miniature trees of yours are FANTASTIC!!!

Very nice Larry.

Thanks guys.
Yes Jerry…and not for the first or probably the last time either

I like the trees also. I recognise the dwarf spruce. The bush that makes the natural tunnel, is that a juniper bush?

Yes Jake common Japanese juniper…great for ground cover and faux Bonsai

Larry, I’m very interested in trying to build some bridge abutments here in So. Cal. using your PVC idea. Where do you find this material? Do you paint it and how does that work for you? Looks very nice!

Gary, I get the PVC trim boards at the local lumber yard (there’s more than one brand) and use Rustoleum textured spray paint for the paint.

That is a real class job Larry! Every bit of it!

Just for further info, sheet PVC up to 4x8 foot sheets is available at TAP Plastics. They’ll even cut to size although it cuts like butter on a table saw.

Very nice, I’m sure you’ll like it.

 Richard, TAP is a good place for PVC but remember these abutments are made from trim planks, nominal thickness is 3/4". used in home construction. More importantly is that it’s expanded PVC…more like Sintra than solid PVC.

Good point Larry. Thanks for the clarification. Too, I believe 1/2" is the thickest TAP carries.

How is the price compared to the regular PVC? Do you know?

Nice job Larry. I like the ability you have of parking the train all made up, ready to roll.
