If ya gottem, can you post a link or tell me where to look. Looking for G gauge obviously. I’m building indoors and would like to see what others have done.

and here’s some videos of mine too.
Victor,
COOL VIDEO’S!!! I have seen your work elsewhere but never the videos.
Shawn & Dave,
Great looking stuff there too.
Shawn,
The outdoor trains are MONSTERS!! Amazing to see what one engone can pull.
I hope to have some pictures of what I’m doing in a couple of weeks. I’m home recovering from shoulder surgery, so it’s slow going right now. Once I’m up to it, I will snap some shots. I started with brass sectional track but didn’t like the look. I’m doing handlaid code 215 now, slowly pulling up the brass. I have purchased one switchcrafters #6 switch, which is real nice. I’m also building my own #5’s based on some templates I got from a fellow local G scaler. Took some learning but I’ve slowly got better at them. I even went on a limb and built a curved #6 in place with no plans. Came out decent.

Most recent updates are mostly about scenery … check back at the very beginning for the “messy room to frames” sequences.

Matt,
As always, very impressed with your progress.
Thanks, Ric! I’m really hoping to have it looking like SOMETHING by the time the convention rolls around in September. I was originally supposed to be on the layout tour; I suspect I’ve been dropped from that, but I’ll probably still entertain the crew that was going to stay here, and any other takers who don’t care if I’m “official” or not! (And… I may not have been dropped… been awhile since I heard from them; I may still be on the list.)
Hopefully there will be something a bit less north poley to see by then…
…grinning…
Some great looking and inspiring stuff by everyone. I’m still figuring out my track plan and need to get the wife down in the basement to confirm it meets her needs too. She has decided to work with me and has just finished sculpting her first ever figure. I’ll post a picture of it when it’s done baking and all painted up.
Phil, the biggest challenge will be the curves and switches. As my indoor workshop grew legs and worked its way around the walls, it was very apparent curves would be an issue. As a simple “U” shaped layout, I bent some code 250 into about an 8 foot diameter to get to the other wall and had to compromise with R1 switches at the engine facility and 1600’s in the yard.
John
whoops, forgot a couple photos. I hate the R1’s but oh well.

The yard is done in 1600’s also due to space constraints.

well, indoors there are two things to have in mind: 1) try to evade S-curves, where ever possible. 2) track, that does not run paralel to the background looks less boring. so, even if it means less possible sidings in the given space, i try to integrate my turnouts into curves, that lead to and from the sidings.
I am using 15’ dia. as min. curves. Layout is just a simple oval around the walls of my basement which is 25’ x 42’. I had looked at the smaller scales previously and tended to get carried away with what I was planning. Coming up to G has made me keep things very minimal and manageable. Instead of modeling a few towns, I am going with one small part, of a small town. Trains pass through and drop off and pick up cars. There is also a couple of industries to be switched. This arrangemnt let’s me sit back and watch them run when I want, yet do some switching when that mood comes up. As for the switching, the plan here is to make the moves as complicated as possible. Using brass sectional track let me change things around easily until I came up with something I really liked. Now that I have things pretty much figured out, I am going with the handlaid track.
