Large Scale Central

Photo size

I just have to give Bob a great big thanks for his photo posting policy.

Over on that Brand-X site I posted a photo that was apparently too wide for their policy of 640 pixels wide - it was 800 pixels!!! It was only 18k bytes, but it was modified to a link, because it was “too big”. Meanwhile, two pictures above it - that conform to the rule of 640 pixels wide, are each more than 100K! I do agree with the basic premise “The larger the size of the photo, the longer it takes to download.”, but measuring it by pixels rather than bytes seems to be somewhat illogical.

So, thanks Bob for your logical set of rules! I always do try to minimize the size of my pictures, but I like them to be 800 pixels or wider for my own web site. And I sure don’t want to keep multiple pictures around.

(Though I do wish you could get these emoticons to work. )
