Phoenix Sound

Has added a new board P-11.
All others are being phased out.
I can’t keep up with the technology as to what works with what.

Kinda old news!

They seem, at least recently, changed, added, and obsoleted models very often.

The 11 is the DC and DCC do all unit, the 8 is the DCC only one.

Did you notice that there are no screw terminals?

There are little plastic blocks with holes you shove a tinned wire into.

Look at the manual: http://www.phoenixsound.com/pdf/PB11_Handbook.pdf

Man, I would be po’d if I used these!

Greg

According to the manual shown on their web page, it uses slip-in connectors. You do not have to solder them.

We haven’t played with or installed any of the new PB11 boards yet. Hopefully the new connectors work well…

Jon.

Not impressed, a cost saving effort, and not made to remove and re-insert.

Notice the cost saving not passed to the consumer.

Greg

I had a look at these with a view to perhaps using them in place of 1/10" spacing screw terminals which have become very expensive.

The type Phoenix are using simply take up too much real estate so I will use cabled plugs and sockets instead on the next generation of my decoder pcb.
