Phoenix sound card - How hard is it to reprogram?

How difficult is it to reprogram the sound on a 2K2 Phoenix sound board from one type locomotive to another type? Does the board have the plug for the computer interface built in, so that all you need to do is plug in the cable to the board and computer, and reprogram? I would like to be able to use the same sound board in a trail car with steam, FAs, U-25s, SD-45s, etc.

Thanks,
Jim C.

Jim - It’s very easy to change from one sound to another with a 2K2. I’m doing exactly what you are thinking of in my “Cheesy Sound Car”

The board includes the plug for the computer interface. You need to buy the cable from Phoenix to connect your computer and the computer must have an RS232 Serial Interface. Once you are connected to the board, its just a matter of a few clicks to upload a new sound to the board. If you make any tweaks to the sounds, and it’s likely you will, you can save your adjusted sound for loading again later. JR

Thanks Jon,
You have answered the question perfectly.
