Is anyone using the new Phoenix pb9 sound system? Do they sound better than 2k2? Any other differences? I ordered one for my K. Can wait to hear it…

If they are like the P-5, they have a more powerful amplifier so they can be a little louder or maybe a fuller sound. Are you running this on track power?

I installed a PB-9 in a customers Big Hauler a few weeks ago. Clean installation, smaller components and the battery is 3.8V, so recharges in an hour. Good sound.

I just put one in my Mallet. Sound is impressive. I haven’t had much chance to play with it. I wired it like on page 22, putting terminals 1 & 2 across the motor so it would know what direction it’s going and wiring the battery connector to my 14v sound/light/smoke power. I put a reed switch to terminal 10, whistle and bell to 9 and 8.
The speaker is pretty heavy. I mounted it upside down to a 2 mm piece of plastic card with a couple holes drilled in it for ports. The magnet end peeks out under the smoke box.
Its first outing will be Golding’s spring OPS session May 2 and 3.
Now looking for something clever to do with this cute little 3.8v battery, and, of course, the old Dallee board
