Phoenix P5 Sound Board with speaker

I recently removed this Phoenix P5 sound card from a locomotive during a RailPro conversion. It works great and is programmed with steam sounds. A Phoenix 3.5" speaker is included. The P5 is perfect for DCC or Battery powered locomotives. Will ship free via USPS or pick-up near Danbury, CT. PayPal or Cash if local. UPDATED Asking $125.

Interested but not familiar with the P5. How does it compare to the P8? I’m all steam, RailPro and battery.

I’m not an expert, nor am I familiar with the P8. The Manual is available on line. I’ll see if I can find a comparison.

EDIT to add: It’s not easy to get the specs anymore since the website went away. I haven’t tried the wayback machine. I think the difference is mostly number of triggers. There was a P5T add on board that added more triggers. The P8 didn’t need that. My research leads me to find that I’m priced a bit high. Make an offer.

Think I’ll pass. Not sure worth the effort for my situation. Really looking for another P8.

I knew that existed but George’s statement that the P5 is DCC Only is incorrect. I took it out of a battery powered loco were it was working fine.

It’s not a good choice for track power.

Was he wrong on the analog input? And isn’t most DCC track powered?

I need to go read it again. Not sure what is meant by analog input. If he means triggers, then yes he is wrong. Triggers are limited (I’ll find out how many), but they exist. And yes, power and data for most DCC systems is delivered through the track.

OK, for Mickey, or anyone else interested, the P5 has two trigger inputs according to the manual…

It does not have an analog motor input needed for diesel sounds without the P5T board that I do not have available. It could be used as is for battery powered or constant track voltage steam (it came from a battery loco) utilizing one trigger input for chuff and one trigger input for whistle. Bells and other sounds would only be available as automatic triggers (the default).

Accordingly, I’ve lowered my price to $125 shipped to continental US.
