Anybody know anything about this? Will the Phoenix P5 board with the optional “input board” (to allow it to accept sound triggers from the RC system) end up being competitive with Sierra?
By “competitive”, I mean:
-similar ease-of-installation and troubleshooting
-similar price-range
-similar performance
My understanding is that Phoenix, despite having what some feel to be better sound quality and greater programming flexibility, has lagged gaining market share among RC/battery customers because of perceived incompatibilities between their 2K2 product and many of the RC units on the market. I’m sure TOC or others will straighten out anything I’ve misunderstood about this state of affairs.
Why I ask:
I’m considering adding sound to my little RCS-equipped LGB diesel switcher, but I’m having trouble finding a sound-set that seems prototypical for that unit. So if I identify a commercially available sound-set I like, and it happens to be a Phoenix set, is the new P5 going to make my life easier?
