Phishing on PayPal

Hi guys:

I am presently being blocked from sending funds to an email address through PayPal as I receive a phishing page requesting my bank account number stating that " I have exceeded my sending limit "

I reported this to PayPal.

How does someone hack into the PayPal system to present a phishing webpage to block the PayPal client from sending funds and attempt to illegally obtain a bank account access code?

The PayPal phishing page specifically warns against providing bank account information.

I called PayPal today. Endless wait for a human operator. So I copied and pasted the two phishing pages and emailed them to PayPal.

So be forewarned !

Norman, this happens to me about once a week.

Also, a new one to me - I got a ‘notification’ last thursday from Canada Post, advising me that they had been unable to deliver a package to my home address here in UK - EVERY detail was correct, including the bit that said ‘do not respond to this email’.

THAT was the only part of which I took any notice.

I have NOTHING coming to me from Canada.

according to the quantity of e.mails concerning paypal problematic payments, still unconfirmed moneytransfers, gone astray parcels, unpaid US taxes etc., i must be a very rich cheque-book modeller.

judging by the quantities of russian women, who want to get in contact with me, i must be an extremely handsome playboy, or a superspy. (meet agent 0013.5, gentlemen!)

on the other hand does the overhelming quantity of offered blue pills indicate, that i must be ninety-plus, going on hundred-and-ten years of age.

the only guys, knowing the truth, that i am cheap seem to be the producers of fake watches, plastic guccies and the like.

a fact completely ignored by those universities, that offer me instant knowledge in form of academic titles.

or by those, knowing i am european, offering to legalize my natural nobility with a noble title before my name.

all of them give me the warm feeling, that i am not alone in this world.

it is only thanks to the automated-answer feature in outlook express (push button “block sender”), that i am able to cope with all my fans.

but, do you know, what i am really missing? there seem to be no more african princesses with stuck riches in this world… - what a pity!

I get them from PayPal, and I don’t even have an account. Never had one.

Look at the return address, if it has a ‘e’ in it, then you know it is fake. Like this one:

[email protected] Note the ‘e’ after the @ sign.

Korm, thanks for the laughs!

Norman- That message about exceeding your limit just might be legit. Paypal uses an account limit for sending and/or receiving funds. After you’ve reached your limit, they want you to become “Verified.” It’s just their way of making you open one of their credit cards (or linking your back account- bad idea). I’ve had this happen to me as well a few years ago and again two days ago. Just when I was about to pay for an item that I had already won and committed to- bang!!! Paypal sticks me with this whole bit about my account had “reached it’s limit”, so I couldn’t complete the transaction. They try to get you with the whole ‘shock factor’ -oh no, how will I pay for this!!! (insert big crocodile tears here) Of course they were more than happy to ‘help’ me by lifting the limit, but only if I open their credit card or give 'em by bank info. Not going to happen. I hate paypal and I certainly don’t need another credit card, but if you ever need to buy something on ebay, they are almost a necessity. I’ve found a loophole around this nonsense. Close your existing paypal account. Remove all ‘cookies’ from your computer. Open a new paypal account with an alternate credit card. Bingo! Paypal can kiss my… caboose!

Hi Kevin:

Same deal here. I am not going to open a PayPal credit card.

Actually, a good deal for PayPal as they are able to track credit worthy folks and then demand that credit worthy users sign up for a PayPal credit card and abandon their present credit card.

Does not seem legal to me. ???

If required, in the future I will simply send a money order to the seller.

Initially I thought that PayPal was a good solution as there was way too much fraud on the part of the sellers.

Now sellers are being abused by buyer fraud.

Now PayPal seems to be forcing users to obtain their credit card?

Where is the honestly in this world?

I now only buy a few items on ebay.

Norman

You can get their credit card, but you can still use any card you want.

Rather than take their card I set up a bank account separate from all others solely used for PayPal payments, sent and received. Easy and risk free.

I tried the paypal credit card and found I could not pay it off with my paypal account.

So, I canceled it.

I do not understand why I can transfer money from paypal to my bank and then from my bank to the credit card, but not be able to do it directly form paypal.

Just a bad is if I refund $$ to buyers from Paypal, I have to call Ebay to get a reduction on the fee I was charged, and be on hold for 15 minutes to do this.

So, I sell to my club/friends first to avoid charges/fees.

You don’t need to keep doing the transfer from and too your credit card. You can just leave the money in your PayPal account and let it ride. I always keep a bit in there to make it simple and don’t have to worry about doing all the transfers.

Mark
