Train Friends,
Today is a tough day. My aunt was rushed into surgery for a major life or death lung operation. She is 74, in poor health, and mentally handicapped and has already exceeded her life expectancy. She developed a lung infection over the weekend and today her lung collapsed completely and she was rushed into surgery. The options were clean the lung and re inflate it or remove it. The later she would not have likely lived through. Well she made it, she is a tough old bird. The lung was the size of a soft ball and full of puss as was the chest cavity. They cleaned it, removed something, and got it re inflated and working. She is in ICU for at least a week. The will keep her asleep (coma?) for the next two days and on a ventilator and feeding tube. She is not out of the woods yet. A post-op pneumonia will probably kill her. If she survives the next 5-10 days she will likely make it.
We are a family of faith. We are secure in whatever happens. That doesn’t make it any less painful. She is a huge part of my life and is a big reason I am involved in may of the things I am involved in. I wanted to share this because I consider many of you to be friends and I don’t mind asking for your thoughts and prayers if your of a mind too.
Thanks guys.
