Pedestrian fatality on the In-ko-pah Railroad

We had our first fatality involving a “pedestrian” on the tracks…

As I pulled the train out of the tunnel where it was parked, the third car was partially derailed and the last two cars were missing. I opened the tunnel and found that one of our Western fence lizards must have gotten startled and ran the wrong way when the train started moving. He was wedged under the wheels of the fourth car.

I had just fed him and his fellow lizards about an hour earlier, so it was kind of sad to have this happen.

There goes your safety record!

A friend in Lancaster had a derailment the other evening. It was caused by a frog but he survived!

Your friend or the frog?

The friend survived. The engine didn’t derail but he may have held his breath!

I’ve had lots of derailments caused by frogs, but they weren’t the amphibious variety.
