This really belongs in Off-Topic, but since it’s my site, I’m posting it here. We lost a great one yesterday. I enjoyed him greatly as an actor, and as a racer. He was very approachable at Lime Rock Park when he was racing. I have a ton of pictures of him in his car, or his racing gear. Here’s one (that I didnt take, but its a neat one) of him at the old Bridgehampton, NY circuit.
Another unreplaceable one.
He and McQueen are having a cold one about now.
He was fun to watch… his salad dressing was kind of nasty though (even IF the profits were donated to charity)… and I’ll (maybe) forgive him his politics.
The modern bunch of big (and air) headed “stars” could sure learn a LOT form his work ethic…and the fact he stayed married 50 years.
And no, he didn’t use enough dynamite. lol
Sad news indeed.
Cool Hand finally made the big escape, sad news alright
Really sad to hear of his passing but what a remembrance he left…
Paul always did it his way…

Dave Healy said:He was great. Will be missed by many. I was surprised to see him interviewed where he said he would have done Cool Hand Luke differently and made many changes. I thought the movie was great...as it was. RalphVictor Smith said:Yep, he'll always be Luke to me.

One of the greatest lines and not really his quote, but certainly brings memories of his movies - “What we have here is a failure to communicate”.
He was a great actor.
I will have to lower my flag to half mast for that one…
