Large Scale Central

PA's and SD$%

Some things, I forgot to bring to York:

2 USA PRR PA-1’s $40 for both, postage included

1 SD45 black basket case, was painting it for PRR, but could not get the paint off of the main body shell. The frame runs great. $200 (includes postage)

Ed- Message sent. Check your messages.

-Kevin.

Ed, might I presume that the $40 for the 2 PAs is a typo? Because otherwise, I could use a few pair of trucks for a future project, and $40 is pretty attractive.

Later,

K

Kevin- I was wondering the same thing. I think they might just be car bodies- no guts. Ed will have to clarify.

HAH!

It’s ok you can come out of the closet and admit you love diesels!! They are some pretty big trucks though?

The “project” is the EBT’s M-1. It’s not a diesel, but a gas-electric. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)I can safely retain my anti-diesel* club card. The M-1 rode on trucks with an 8’ wheelbase, so I figured since I’d be removing the middle axle and making the whole thing rigid, I could probably shorten the PA trucks to the appropriate wheelbase. The wheels would be replaced, too, possibly using NWSL’s replacement wheels (28" in 1:20.3), or if I can source proper 33" wheels for a reasonable price, I’d just use those.

Having said that, there’s a Porter 87-tonner up at the Georgetown Loop RR which rides on trucks very similar to the PA’s trucks. My son thinks that one’s cool, and since the anti-diesel club by-laws do allow exceptions for family members’ interests, that might end up on the “someday, maybe” list. (It’s powered by an Alco diesel motor, so at least it would sound cool.)

K

*The anti-diesel club also allows exceptions for diesels with siderods. They’re diesels that are trying to be cool like steam locos. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)

That Porter thing sucks. When the Loop was run right, they were running Shays. That was cool. (They kept breaking down and they kept sending them up to Oregon or somewhere to fix 'em and then the Loop changed ownership I think. Something like that. But the Porter ain’t no SHAY!)

They’ve got a Shay back there now. They traded that woefully-underpowered ex-Hawaiian 2-6-2 to a railroad in Iowa for it. The 2-6-2 is now happy running on a mostly-flat railroad, and the Shay is on the Loop doing what Shays do best. Of course, I was kinda partial to that 2-6-2, so I was sad to see it go. (Especially since I’m building a model of the thing and could use some measurements.)

Please accept my Apologies concerning this listing: The PA’s are ONLY car-bodies. I also neglected to mention (or best offer)

Ed

Ed, I’ll take the PA bodies if they’re still available.

All items are sold.

thanks to all.
