Large Scale Central

Part the Second; Off the dirt

Oh my! This is nerve-wracking! (https://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-undecided.gif)

Well, darn. But I will still be thinking about you. I’ll just have to do it for the next 4 weeks (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

I wonder how my buddy Devon is?

Some ride! I’ve had one round of Chemo, where ever there is a blood vessel in my body, it hurts.

I also had the Radiation Course and oh woe is me, I can barely breathe. My ProAire rescue inhaler is down to 68 of 200 puffs, after one week, it’s supposed to last a month! Sitting up, hyper ventilating is not my idea of a good night’s sleep, but it is what it is…

My white blood cells dropped from 4.8k to 1.3k, so Chemo was paused while 2 shots try to boost that count… Monday’s labs will hopefully confirm that and chemo begins again that day…

Horrors of horror my railroad is broken…

Hey Devon, hows by you?

Thanks for the update John. So sorry you feel so crappy :frowning: and hope things stabilize in a better space.

Wow, aren’t you just too cool. Didn’t James Bond 007 have one of those??

I hope you get some relief soon.

My O My we are pulling for Ya!

Still wondering about my buddy Devon …

Complications … my radiation treatment caused severe breathing problems. So bad that the nurse practitioner, took me on a walk with a portable oxygen reader and became alarmed at my drop, after a few steps…

The biggest concern is lung radiation can cause the symptoms of pneumonia without actually having it … Hold the horses, you need a Thorax CT scan ASAP! Unfortunately the only way to get one ‘fast’ is through an ER, which isn’t fast by it’s nature … after 5 hours propped up on a gurney I got scanned and it took another hour and a half to be released … No pneumonitis (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-smile.gif), but to be safe, I’m on steroids to build me up for the Chemo take down … That resumes Monday morning.

I’m going bald! I was hoping I could pull the wild ones on my ears and eyebrows, but they seem hearty and refuse to abdicate! Oh woe… What a look!

On the plus side, my appetite is back in time for my annual B’day dinner at my favorite restaurant tomorrow, 69 isn’t that old, methinks…

Hey Devon, tell me you are doing better.

69 is an awesome number !!! Most of the guys I know on LSC are going bald too so it matters not!

Take care

Sorry to hear about all this stuff, well except for the b’day dinner happy news.

I have this picture in my head of you looking like a cross between Captain Picard and Andy Rooney.

Take care John! Hope this gets into a rhythm that minimizes your discomfort…

[edited to spell Picard correctly]

Yeah I know, it’s on my Letterman’s jacket too! That was a great year for reasons I can’t print, even if the statues have long expired …(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Can say my older brother remains jealous to this day…

if going bald still is a serious concern of yours, i congratulate you.

and don’t forget the advantage: it’s easier to get your fill of vitamin D…

ps. if your cowboy hat falls over your ears… - some folded newspaper behind the sweat-band works miracles!

i wish you the force and stubborness, to get through your treatment.

Another trick is to use that foam insulation stuck to the inside of your sweat band … Thinking of you …I wish Devon would pipe in …

John,

Still thinking of you daily! (https://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Ditto, hope you are adjusting to your treatments, sorry I can’t be there to help fix what the idiots smashed.

Greg

Thinking of you a lot John, and continue to admire your positive attitude through all this.

And referring to what Greg said, did you ever find out who did the damage?

John, you’re still in our prayers. Hope your treatments go better in the future and provide the needed results. Don’t sweat the hair loss, one less thing to deal with each day. Upside is you can wash your head the same way you wash your a… with a wash rag(https://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif) Get better, buddy.

Cliff,

I was there sitting beside my layout when the idiot backed his trailer through it. I yelled and screamed at him to get him to stop!

I had 2 options, grab a gun and shoot him or leave … I left.

I must undo their ‘feel good’ fix to begin the repair, a chain from my truck to drag it back into track alignment and then find the legs they tossed and raise it 3’’ more than their fix…

I haven’t taken pics because it depresses me to see the car barn 3" above the approach tracks… with track bent down… they split a plank lengthwise and I’m out of planks!

A lot depends on my cancer battle and if I’ll have the strength to fix it and then finish Mt Lumpy and the back side view of mining oh and build my Ruby LS and the Mack pickem up truck and … my secret diddlebegger with the Ruby …

If the G is toast then I’m thinking about my On3 indoors, again if I can…

Thanks for the back-story, John.

Naah! It ain’t toast until the fat lady… gets toasted! And that won’t happen, not now, and not soon.

I admire your diddlebeggering with Ruby, if that’s ok to say here…

Keep up the backlog Buddy, you’ll get to it.

Cliff

You are a better man than me… I would have seriously considered the gun, although I think I would have shot the tires… (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)

Hang in there, you can repair the layout, but for those people, you can’t fix stupid… they will be that way the rest of their lives.

Greg

Oh my god! The diddlebegger! I love it!

John you need to get better. The world needs a diddlebegger! Even if you don’t have a G track to run it on for a while…

Hang in there buddy.
