Large Scale Central

Part the Second; Off the dirt

Thanks guys.

I finally got the 2nd Endoscope scheduled for this Monday morning.

Now the important stuff; Except for spiking the rail, she’s done and there is the last crossing to be studied.

Fill trestles … Since the railroads liked to build their own right of way… trestles were often buried.

The trestles tended to be simpler than the regular models.

My land has a 20 degree tilt here just to add realism …

I have Javalinas coming in my yard and I’ve left ways for them to get under the layout. Sometimes they think they can fly. I saw on 200 pound critter clear 4 feet 2 feet off the ground. Unfortunately they are reminded that they can’t actually fly about the time they achieve Takeoff!

Here is what I call; A Pigs Landing…

I added green arrows to point out the split next to the track and how far it rolled by the one at the top corner. The back board is off and before I re-do it I saw some track laying that isn’t up to standards, must of been one of those weary good enough daze.

Fill trestles … I enjoy the research as much as the building …

My crew is hoping for better luck than this crew …

Yep 2 locos couldn’t fly…

Since the weather has changed faster than my acclimation I may fiddle with the rail truck project in the shade. 90 and rising…

You better get guard rails installed before Fred sees this…

Let’s let that sleeping dog lie…

While

I’m looking for rail.(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Found it… see below.(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)

edited to add the above.

That view makes nice scene/image.

You mean the guy who put the red aspect on top?

On my railroad I’ll do it my way…

However life plays by some weird rules.

3 weeks ago, Horsepital calls, leaves no message, my return call w/o message is laughed at.

I check in at the Cancer center asking about an Endoscopy. Oh your work order was approved today, call this # at 2.

At 3 The Scheduler asks me again what work order? For the 3rd time I explain it was just approved and she should look in the inbox, finally checks the Office’s inbox ‘Oh here it is’

I made today’s appointment. Stopped eating yesterday at 6, water after midnight, up at 6 at the horsepital by 7 and by 7:15 informed I have no appointment!(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-yell.gif)

My sisters tells me to cool it and we go to Endoscopy and after retelling my ‘story’, Karen manages to find my work order, but can’t explain why it wasn’t processed.

Next Monday, the Gods willing I will have my: Bronchoscopy w/Argon Plasma Coagulation.

I bet you guys are jealous now!

Yuck! Nothing like having fubar stress on top of health uncertainty. Hang in there John!

A beautiful bridge, John! And those are great historical photos, thanks for those.

I once had a colonoscopy and endoscopy. But I suspect the doctors had some sort of golden spike ceremony when they met up, because my duodenum hasn’t been the same since.

And the scary part is these people are responsible for your health…

I just noticed they used the Herring bone style of stringers. Each stick covers 3 bents and the next stick over laps from the middle bent and extends to the next bent. It’s easier to curve stringers to follow the flow. There are 2 stringers between each bent for extra car support.

Now’s my chance to build one… all the better 'cause mine is an S curve trestle

Notice that the cars are dumping on alternating sides and the end car has only had bits by the door fall so far… stop action photography!

A sad day at the park …

I took back the display track …

Had an early morning visitor, I shot this through the window screen…

This was the second click, right after I said; “OK bird…” and he flew away.

Last week it hit 96 degrees F, Saturday morning comes with a freeze warning … I had just told my nephew to expect an Indian Winter!

Bingo!

Bridge looks great John. I love the research photos too. Hope things go better with your tests.

Ditto on the look of the bridge John. Great job. Sorry about the scheduling screwup for your procedure. Not an uncommon occurrence here either. Wait until you get the bill!

Thanks to you’se guy’s rotten luck,(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif) I’m back! (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Procedure went well and looks like one of them; every 3months to 6 months to 1 per year.

From CT scans to looking inside, ready to biopsy as needed. Sure wish Imunotherapy had been available.(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-undecided.gif) Yet I have no complaints being in an 18% group.(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)

Before I get into the trestle, I’m reconsidering the back wall and rebending some rails for a smoother ride. Too much was done ‘good enough’, but since I have a new Ruby kit to assemble, (live steam) I want to send her off with confidence. I have half a yard of 120# rail for my anvil…

I read in the paper today that sitting erodes our mental abilities … so get up and play trains!

sitting erodes our mental abilities? - hmmm…

one of these push-cart walking aids, equipped with a PC upon it and WiFi?

… if that would help?

I guess for people like me, sitting restricts the blood flow to our brains, is that what you are saying? (https://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

I do have to admit I was healthier when I walked around downtown Pittsburgh as part of my job.

What bits and pieces of your RR that I’ve seen, John, looks interesting and…unique. Do you have a track plan or possibly a picture of what the overall scheme looks like? Or is it all in your head and your just going with the flow?..(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

You can see it relatively clearly from satellite.

Mind posting the coordinates? I doubt if you’ll see the new bridges.

I’ll take some pics later, my clubs don’t draw very nice on the puter…

Thanks

You can see the general layout, where the curves and loops are:

32 degrees 4’ 51" N, 110 degrees 42’ 45" W, elecation about 3080 feet
