This looks very interesting. I think its been posted some place before but worthy of the convention trip itself.
Ric,
That does look pretty interesting. But it’s a pretty good drive from Hickory.
The web-site says almost 2 hours, Map Quest shows 2 hours, 43 minutes.
I guess one of them is correct

Ralph,
We’ll becoming from 50 miles east of St. Louis. 3 hours? That’s just a “road trip”.
Ric,
The video was great!! Only one interesting observation, that train passed over the highway 3 times during the video and I never heard the engineer sound the crossing horn at all. I guess a small industry switcher is different then the main line operation.

I’m not trying to discourage anyone from attending any of the convention events.
Just letting people know that the travel time stated on the web-site was a bit optimistic
Myself, unfortunately I’ll have to work the weekdays. September falls within our busy season.

Can I come?

1167.3 miles from OKC, 2 days, 2 hours and 54 minutes with two overnight stays as per Streets & Trips. I know I can do it in 18 hours not including the mandatory 10 hour DOT break… lol.
Neat little RR, would be nice to see it.

I was in Yukon last night and back home today. Picking up my Mom for a family wedding.
