Part 2 Travels with Wall - Out to the wild west?

Travels with Wally - Out to the wild west?

Susie and I went to Colorado and Utah during September and with some decent weather, I was able to photograph a few trains. The report is too large so I split it into two sections. If you’re interested, Part 2 is at http://ra.nilenet.com/~wlg/wallysworld/index.htm

Enjoy and comments are always welcome even the ones in crayon or with words cut from newspapers.

Nice pics, thanks for posting them!

I’ve been a member here for around a year, mostly lurking and getting info and ideas for my garden railroad but this will be my first post here.

The photo’s you have taken in part 2 are places that are very familiar to me. Green River, Wyoming is only 12 miles from my home and I have traveled that stretch of I-80 to Salt Lake City many times in the last 35 years. The only times I have been to the Green River yard is when the UP’s Challenger happens through.

The photo your wife took of the tank is at Wahsatch, (why that instead of “Wasatch”, I don’t know) about 10 miles west of Evanston, WY, placed there for rewatering after the long steep climb up Echo Canyon (right after you passed that tank you began your descent into the canyon). Here’s a link for more history on that stretch of track.

And another photo.
