Paint Shop Pro vs Photo Shop Pro

Is the Photo Shop Pro so much better than Paint Shop Pro that it is worth the bucks to buy it when I already own Paint Shop Pro?

What can Photo Shop do that Paint Shop can’t?

If you are referring to ADOBE Photo Shop the full mean deal, then there really is not a whole lot that compares to it. However, if you are referring to the watered down versions… then almost anything out there will work just fine… There are also older FREE versions or shareware versions of Paint Shop Pro on the internet that are great!

Photoshop elements 3 & 4 are much more user friendly than PS 7.0. I have used all three.

One of the more annoying aspects of both paint jobs mentioned is their eagerness to get in on the act as soon as you get an auto call up from an internet donload The same thing happens when trying to export photos , Adobe in particular keeps shoving its snout in . Most annoying when you are trying to follow a sequence .

Mike, you can reassign what program gets fired off when you double click an image file.

Go to the windows explorer, go to tools… file types… scroll down to the file type you want to go elsewhere, and reassign.

Also, you can configure Adobe and most other programs to NOT “grab” these file types back.

Ok , thanks , Greg , I shall have a go .
Cheers

For those who also get annoyed when a file gets opened with the wrong application:

Right click on the file

scroll down to “Open with”

select the application you want.

As far as “*.jpg” goes I can choose among:
Windows Picture and FAX Viewer, Paint, Corel Photo Paint, OPERA, PaintShop Pro, Corel Draw, Adobe Elements

It all depends what one wants to do at the time.
