I have a assortment of Floquil RR paint still in my invintory but no thinner . Can’t get it at my local hobby shop anymore. Is there anything else out there that can be used to thin Floquil enamels ?
Mr. Dorsch,
Are the Floquil paints that you have solvent bourne or water bourne? If water bourne, you can use distilled or deionized water with either ethyl or isopropyl alcohol for additional thinning you can use methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) or acetone. The ketones will accelerate drying. To slow drying you can add ethyl or butyl cellosolve. If solvent bourne, you can use paint thinner, MEK, acetone, methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK), the cellosolves or combinations of any.
These chemicals can be found at Home Depot, Lowes, Menards or any paint stores. Use caution when working with these chemicals as they are hazardous materials.

Thanks for the reply guys. I’m gonna head to Home Depot and see if they have a enamel reducer. Gordon, the Floquil I have is enamel .
They are solvent base enamels not water based. Thanks again guys.
Many moons ago I would use Alcohol to thin both lacquer and water based paints. It made it very thin to use in my (forget brand name) tiny sprayer. But it evaporates VERY quickly so you can do multiple thin coats faster. Never had any trouble with it as the alcohol does not mix with the paint, but puts it in a suspension. I even used alcohol from the drug store as this was before Big Box Stores were invented.
