Out and About -- on the road in BC and Alberta

Nah, it isn’t like a cab ride on the railroad, but those who like to watch scenery will get their fill on this series.

As mentioned regarding the tripod-head test video, keeping the windshield clean is a bit of a challenge. Damn, forgot to take a picture of the bug splattered front of the Montana before heading through the carwash. Ah well, there will be more.

Wow, that’s some busy highway there! You in a convoie?

Me, I’d prefer some Acadian music…but it’s still a nice little trip all the same!

Now that was a nice drive. I must confess I fell asleep at the wheel once and near ran off the road. Fortunately the RCMP were nowhere in sight so another reckless tourist escaped apprehension. I see that you have a traffic congestion problem similar to that of Port Orford which is why we have a blinking traffic light.

As to Terry’s musical suggestion…I’d prefer a nice Gregorian chant!

Gregorian chant I have in the collection; Acadian stuff, not yet.

BTW for this particular trip I’ll stick to Swiss Hillbilly, in honour of the many Swiss who live in that area.

There are Rednecks in Switzerland? Who’da thunk! Well, come to think of it, it is hill country.

Unlike the connotations attached to the term "Hillbilly"in NA, in Switzerland it more or less just refers to music from the mountains. There’s also Swiss Country music and Folk music; I don’t usually subject others to those two genres, they’re not in my collection.

I have to admit that mrs tac told me about the music - being mostly deef means that I have to have the volume on max to get the benefit, and living so close to our neighbours that’s just TOO anti-social. I assure you that there was no personal intended about your choice of music.

On occasions I’m just very glad that I can’t lip-read noises on a screen.

Another pleasing vid H-J.

The mention of Hillbillies, either North American or Swiss, brings to mind another connection between the two and that is, of course, yodeling!

Who can forget Cousin Pearl, of the Beverly Hillbilly family, giving the occasional yodeling rendition. Is yodeling in your repertoire or collection H-J? lol

Yes Alan, we have some of the yodeling in the collection, too, but I certainly didn’t buy that.  I stick to the instrumental stuff from the Grisons and the Appenzell.

@ tac, no problem. I’ve been listening to some of the Acadian fiddle tunes, they’re pretty catchy.

The good news is … I found lots of suitable music for the “Out and About” series.

Metallica?

Nah, I decided to go "Retro", all the way back to the early 60s. Gives me a chance to transfer some of the old LPs and put them to good use. Soooooooo here goes!

And I can play air guitar to these tunes; once upon a time I actually played them on a real guitar, but that was a long, long time ago.

And the other half of that section of Hwy 99

There’s more to the Fraser Canyon than just the stretch between Hope and Lytton of the Trans Canada Highway. Lytton to Lillooet, BC is an interesting section along which the scenery changes from the densely forested to the semi arid.

Lytton and Lillooet, along with Osoyoos, are the hot-spots in BC.
