Large Scale Central

Our visit to the Reading RR museum was nice

…but I went because I understood the museum had a temporary exhibit about Reading’s contribution to the Civil War. As I am modeling the USMRR during the 1860’s I wanted to see the exhibit.

The museum was fine they are just starting out, but the Civil War exhibit consisted of some photographs with descriptions underneath. Not much of an educational exhibit. The remainder of the yard displays and small museum pieces with an HO scale layout of some representative vignettes of the Reading Line were nice.

After the museum tour, Ralph and some of his family and I went to Cabela’s (5 minutes) up the road, then came back to my place (30 minutes away) to talk and run trains. Overall it was a great day.

(P.S. I have not found you handrail yet.)

What…no pictures :o Do I have to do everything  Thanks for joining us, Dave. It was a very good day  The Reading Railroad Historical Society Museum in Hamburg, PA. was well worth the $5.00 admission. They have a lot of work to do there. They are currently in the process of building their “Yard”. Rolling stock is currently stored on some temporary rail. No steam in the equipment roster. The volunteer was telling us there are only 5 steam powered Reading locomotives left. They are trying to get one of them for the museum. The museum also runs excursion trains with an FP7, I think. They have two more FP7’s on loan to Steamtown. Ralph

Right next door is the Blue Mountain & Reading RR. We were told they run excursions in the Fall.
