Large Scale Central

Our short line bit the dust

SWMBO called from town, stuck by the library because the train is rolling by.

Two+ weeks ago the KPR went into receivership and now they’re clearing out whatever is still stranded.

Rumour has it the CN will do the operating - it’s their trackage anyway - but guesstimates are that it will take 16 million to get the track back up to snuff. 10mph max for the last few years because shareholders were more important than track. We’re all familiar with that mindset: milk it while there’s milk and run when the cow goes dry.

Had a nice chat with the engineer, while he was switching the OSB plant, what a disaster it is when the trains aren’t running.

PS and I’m still not used to paying attention what this dumb editing pop-up does. Empty lines and more empty lines. What a DRAG! (It’s an acronym!)

  :stuck_out_tongue:

PS re-uploaded, it will take a while before it is processed, going that quickly the first time should have made me suspect some glitch! :frowning:

Hans… what happen to the video after time line 3:00 ? All went Green, but still has sound in it.
Any way, what we see is a good shot of the train… Sorry to hear the bad new with the branch line tho.

Yep, mine went green too…But what I noticed most about your videos is the use of a tripod and smooth zoom. Most appreciated. Hard to understand why the invention of the tripod is a well guarded secret!

I’ll re-upload. Nowadays one needs to check everything twice and then once more for good measure.

The well guarded secret hitches on the fact that you need to take a tripod along and then carry it to the shooting location, even if it is a bit of a hike.

But it pays off; I hate shaky video and the “zooming in … zooming out” routine can make one dizzy, too.

Tk’s Hans… Must of been a Hairball in the upload… I’ve done that too.

Hey Noel,

Between the Hairballs and the Screwballs everyone is having a ball today.

OK lets try this

A slight improvement. GRRRR!!

One more that shows the nice swaying motion on account of the track along with the fine carpet of weeds.

Tk’s Hans… Hair balls and all you did a great job on getting it to work and its a train thing too. lol

Sure like the color of the Eng’s. Nice paint job… Did they have other rolling stock or power?

I don’t think they had any of their own cars. All the engines are/were leased. In a previous incarnation they had some really rare ALCO units. Railfans from far and wide flocked to the Okanagan to see that old stuff still under power.

Apropos the ALCOs here’s a video

The shot of that curved, wooden trestle across the road is very close to where our shop is, one of the small switching yards (Lumby Jct) is right behind our shop.

Tk’s Hans…
