Hello Railfans
Someone on this forum recently mentioned the silent movie “Our Hospitality” with Buster Keaton made back in 1923 I think it was and depicting around 1850. It had a really neat train in it. I watched it last night and was impressed. The train was one of the old original types “a Rocket” with the tall open stage coach bodies and the open engine with the diagonal pistons. There is a scene where the train stops because a donkey is blocking the track, they try and move the donkey but he wouldn’t budge so they wrestle the track to go around him. The train track went over all sorts of bumps and tree trunks etc… and just kept going. Talk about bad track work but Very comical.
A good movie and the train scenes are just classic. Check it out if can it is on streaming netflix. The train scenes might be on youtube?

Actually, the entire movie is on you tube…I know, I watched it! The way that train negotiates the track is a hoot. That and the great speed at which that early form of conveyance moved along!! I laughed when the dog made the whole trip as fast as the train did!
