DOnt know about you, but I’m walking round here very stealthily today, my comments yesterday morning that once back in Boston, I predicted that the Lakers would be utterly destroyed, and boy was I right!
PS there some of us L.A. locals that quitely refer to the “Lakers” as the “Slackers” well last night you say why…
The result from the game that counted: Germany 0 Spain 1 It was a very good and entertaining game, the score could have been much higher.
Let me see. We started with soccer then went to hockey and then on to basketball. Isn’t anyone interested in baseball, football, tennis, curling, bowling, cricket, volleyball, beach volleyball which is different than the standard variety and of course what about golf? I am sure I missed a few sports that some of you could comment on. For my self I don’t watch any sport with a burning desire to see a particular team win. I just play with my trains and grandchildren. I also try to get in a little surf fishing with my wife. That is her main idea of how to spend our retirement time together. She just tollerates my trains. Notice I said my trains not ours.
John Spehar said:John, I have to admit that I've never tried that facet of the angling sport - never actually seen it either, to tell the troof.

I’d imagine that it’s pretty difficult to keep your balance and stay upright on the board, especially whilst casting, is that right?
I remain in awe of the folks who can do this kind of thing.
Me, I’ll stick to my paper-punching kabooming.
Best wishes

Now I know what it feels like when the newspapers take something you say and twist it to give it a whole new meaning. Yes the “mean” kind of meaning that they come up with to push their political agendas. Like when they try to make McCain look stupid and out of touch while Obama is made to look intelligent and taking us to the promised land. Yes I believe the press is very left wing. But on this web site it is all in fun and taken that way. Great comment Terry. I had a chuckle over it.
Terry, its all in how you hold your jaw. You must have been holding yours wrong.

‘Good mornin’, America, how are ya? Don’t you know me, I’m your favourite son?’
One of two rail songs that tear me up.

“I’m the train they call ‘The City of New Orleans,’ I’ll be gone five hundred miles when the day is done.”

Define “muspy.” It does not compute, not in my dictionary. Ah, must be. I get it.

What is the other song? “The Midnight Express?” or “She’ll be Comin’ Around the Mountain?”
Mine, The Rock island line and Wreck of ole '97

“Midnight Special” John Fogerty and CCR’s version, of course!
Another good one is “This Train is Bound for Glory!”
And, there is always “Rock Island” from “The Music Man.”
Steve,
Steve Goodman was a great song writer taken from the world much too soon. You end every post with the line from my favorite train song.

I almost forgot about “Wabash Cannonball”
I have a great version by Pete Seeger and Arlo Guthrie.
Arlo is alright by me.

It is just intercity transit but I still love to play the “MTA” by the Kingston Trio when I want to reflect on the good old days.
And then there are the Jimmie Rodgers tunes. The yodelling Brakeman!
