Over the weekend I used DAve Husman’s excellent ACCESS based program (avalible in the files area) to generate Carcards and Waybills for the WCNG. Problem was how to sort and organize car cards for an outdoor line, this was my solution:
I had a 4 x 8 sheet of the stuff they make dry erase boards out of, so using a 20 x 32 chunk of it I put 4 racks of 8 pockets for each of the major switching areas. I inclueded a track plan and labeled the pockets accordingly. Its all on dry erase, so its easy to change as the railroad evolves. My plan is that no one but the disptacher has to mess with the carcards, a switchlist being provided for the Yard Jobs, and a Manifest Freight Report for the mainlin trains (Both have been uploaded to the Files area). The Dispatcher’s board therefore becomes a traffic generator, the waybill destination information bein used to fill out the switchlists.
