Since Greg Posta does not post here and his RGSRR website is not quite
operational (at least not in the browsers which I use) I attach below the
newsletter which I just received from him. Perhaps some of you will be
interested to join the open house, etc. Best wishes from Tokyo, Zubi
RGSRR NEWSLETTER
Open House is happening again at the Rio Grande Southern Railroad (RGSRR)
layout in Ridgway, CO, on June 27th and 28th. This will be the 12th
anniversary of the open houses we have had up here at our home. For any
newcomers, we have a weekend full of trains, battery powered and live steam.
Railroaders from all over the world bring their favorite locomotive to run
on our 2500 feet of track, in our most scenic and highest outdoor layout.
This is where the men become boys! Everyone is welcome to run or just come
to watch the fun; men, women, and children. This is a fundraiser for the San
Juan Historical Society to restore the “Silverton Northern caboose #1005”,
and the 3rd consecutive year RGSRR has hosted this most valued event.
Donations at the gate will be $5.00. Directions to the open house will be
included below.
NEW THIS YEAR will be a $5.00 lunch that will be served as a fundraiser as
well.
Help Mary Beat MS. My wife, Mary, was diagnosed with MS in 1987. She has
been living with her limitations, and expecting more changes at any given
moment. Recently, she heard about “Adult Stem Cell Treatments” changing the
lives of people living with MS. www.cellmedicine.com
http://www.cellmedicine.com Since these treatments are not offered in
the US, Mary has applied and has been accepted into a treatment program in
Costa Rico. The cost is $30,000. She has raised $10,000, and is now working
on the remaining $20,000. Our children are serving the $5.00 lunch as a
fundraiser at our open house for her. If you can donate anything toward her
quest for these treatments it would be deeply appreciated. Donations can
also be made to any western slope Alpine Bank in CO, under Mary Posta,
benefit savings account, or mailed directly to Mary Posta, 6997 county road
5, Ridgway, CO 81432. Any questions call 970-626-3733, or e-mail
[email protected] mailto:[email protected]
DIRECTIONS: Come into Ridgway on Hwy. 62, turn south on “Amelia” street, go
past 2 stop signs. Turn right after crossing the irrigation ditch, the road
now turns into county road 5. Go 5 miles up the county road till you top a
plateau and all the mountains come into full view. There will be a row of
mailboxes on your left and three driveways on your right. Two of the
driveways have gates and the third is gateless. You are here! Turn right at
the third gateless drive. All roads will be marked with signs and balloons.
NEW PRODUCTS on the web page, hopefully by the open house, will be the
Jackson and Sharp “Combines” and possibly the new “Drop Bottom Gondolas”.
Hope to see you all at the open house in June!!!
