While searching the web, I came upon this dealer, Onlytrains/Carerra slots in Buffalo, Minnesota. The store web layout and particularly prices are exactly the same as Ridge Road Station layout. Similarly, the store inventory is updated every hour. The store lists just about everything available from LGB as ‘instock’ or ‘available’.

OK, so I emailed the store requesting shipping information and particularly if USPS was an option. The email response was very enthusiastic and the propietor(?) Thomas Larsen even emailed me on Sunday from his home. He is very willing to provide a shipping quote on any LGB items that I am considering and that USPS was definately a shipping option.

I must confess I am very taken with his friendly attitude and willingness to help. The friendliness reminds me of the excellent service and prices on the now defunct Ridge Road site. It seems that I now have found a new site to tempt money from my wallet.

I live 20 minutes from this store. Tom and his wife have been most gracious with their time and assistance when I need something. It is not your “traditional” hobby store with a counter and register as he is primarily mail order, but his stock is huge and varied. Just picked up a Bachmann 4-4-0 this week that was not listed on the site yet. He does update frequently, and if it says “in stock” it is indeed "in stock’! They have also ordered parts for me in the past, they arrived within a few days as promised.

Onlytrains is on my short list of “good ones”.

that is very reassuring. After the demise of Ridge Road I was left on a limb, as the discount dealers generally list LGB products but do not have instock or available (backorder specialists). Tom will certainly be at the top of my places to buy from.

Interesting. Too bad they have only limited selection of Aristo, and no Bachmann.

I agree Ray. The prices are no doubt good for LGB but still high for me but thats only because most of the stuff is LGB. It gives me another site to add to my list. Too bad they dont have more bachmann and in my case HLW. Although I have been eyeing that Piko mogul at 175.

I just compared prices and a few things with wholesale and wholesale actually has cheaper prices still.
