Turkey crashes into Amtrak train The Sun Chronicle, Attleboro MA by Stu Skerker June 1, 2013

MANSFIELD — The engineer of a northbound train was injured late this > morning when a wild turkey crashed through the window of an Amtrak > train, stopping service on all tracks. >

Richard

PS engineer taken to hosp. but ok, turkey DOA

Airplane windscreens are certified against birdstrikes, but not locomotives.

Interesting.

I always said those who want to stop Amtrak are just big Turkeys LOL

Strange that the window failed.

The special glazing on the engine windows is required to take a cinderblock at 40mph.

I personally have been saved by the glazing myself. Coming through Lebenon PA, headed home to Harrisburg, someone thought it would be funny to toss a spike in front of our engine. Thank god it hit long ways instead of point on. The impact completely shattered the glass on my side of the cab, the impact site directly in front of my face. One second the windshield was whole, the next it was completely spiderweb’d. The impact point was bubbled in almost three inches… the only thing that held was the glazing.

Was it a FROZEN turkey?

I know that joke, one of the dream jobs of Larry the Cable Guy.

“Thaw the birds.”

" I didn’t know turkeys could fly"

Were did this quote come from?

ONLY IN PA…Wild Turkey and Coke anyone?

Did it hurt him much? :open_mouth:

Funny, when I think of “hitting the wild turkey” something completely different comes to mind:
