Sheeesh guys, I just don’t get any of that stuff.

The point of this exercise, according to Cambridge University, is that as long as the first and last letter of the word is in its correct place, it does not matter what position the other letters in the word are, the mind will correctly interpret the word.

The pniot of tihs ercsxiee, aocrcindg to Cbamirgde Uvinreitsy, is taht as lnog as the frsit and lsat lteter of the wrod is in its creorct pcale, it deos not mtaetr waht psiotoin the ohetr lteters are, the mnid will coerortlcy itnrepert the wrod.

So, are you a Great Mind?

Steve,

I’ve seen at least a dozen examples of this exercise in the past months. “Great minds” keep on posting and printing it.
OTOH it is a safe bet that if “reading only fora” is on the schedule, it won’t be long and the spelling will be quite similar. The real problem will be some years down the road, when people don’t remember which letters belong at the start and the end.

I was able to read it, but only because thats the way I write. Thank God for spellchecker!

It is obvious, HJ, that you have missed the point.

The mind is a wonderful instrument, and capable of overcoming many obstacles.

I do not think that this will be the cause of a loss of spelling skills. Lack of discipline in school will be, however.

Steve,

I got the point alright,  I got that point the first time I puzzled over the writing on a delivery truck back in 1970.

It said “Kwikasair”.

Ever since I look for “possibilities” when I see “interesting spelling”.
