Online ordering source for Evergreen and Plastruct?

I’m about ready to make a decent sized order of styrene from both Evergreen and Plastruct as neither one has everything I need for an up coming build project. In an attempt to combine shipping costs (and thus save a bit of money) does anyone have a couple of good suggestions? I know I can order direct from both companies, but I’m guessing I would end up paying double the shipping.

HobbyLinc had both:

So does Caboose Hobbies: http://www.caboosehobbies.com/catalog/index_brief.php

I’ll second Hobbylinc. Ive bought tons of scratchbuilding stuff from them. Alternately, you can go right to the manufacturer.

I like Hobbylinc as well, but they don’t carry the entire line of either company. I have had good luck ordering from Plastruct directly.

One thing I have learned from Hobbylinc is to choose the UPS option for shipping and delete the insurance option since that is now included. Seems to come faster as well.

Thanks. I’ll check out Hobbylinc. I’ve always seemed to just order/need evergreen products so I either hit the LHS, Evergreen directly. However this project looks like it needs parts from both companies, so I was hoping to combine shipping costs instead of having to pay them twice from the manufacturer direct.

Edit for Bruce’s comments. Humm, I guess I better make sure they have everything I need in stock. Thanks for the tip.

Keep in mind that Hobbylinc has lots of other neat stuff to spend your money on! I especially like the extra thin Tamiya cement - it works really well with the Evergreen styrene.

Bruce,

I tend to use MEK for all my gluing. Works good, and is really cheap! The only problem is I need to buy another needle bottle as the needle I have keeps getting plugged up.

It costs me around a quarter of the UK price to buy my Evergreen/Plastruct bits from Hobbylink in the USA - including shipping to UK.

One local dealer sells a single 13" section of 2.4x2.4 L-shape for $2.65.

I think your local dealer needs his ass kicked , I get that for 85p from several competing shops . (£3.20 for a pack of four)

You are right though , some of them really do take the mick . When I find which ones I go elsewhere .

BTW, I forgot to mention that when ordering from Caboose Hobbies, it might be best to call and make sure they have everything you want. I’ve found that when ordering online, they often end up shipping stuff out a few bits at a time, with a separate shipping fee each time, which gets expensive fast.

For Plastruct, I almost always just order direct from the Plastruct website. I’d do that with Evergreen too, but they don’t sell online.

I looked around and Caboose Hobbies didn’t have everything I needed in stock. I’m going to order direct from Plastruct for the few things I need from them, and contact Evergreen to see if they will sell direct. When I worked in the hobby shop in Washington in my earlier years a couple of employees were able to order direct and even go up to Woodinville (just North by a few miles) and pick up the plastic. But the website shows a IL address now, so I’m not sure if Evergreen is even in Washington anymore.

If I’m successful ordering direct from Evergreen, I’ll let everyone know for the future.
