If I had a model of this, it would never be touched with any weathering at all!
Attention: See Bachmann Spectrum line
Vic, I have been sooooo tempted.
I agree, John. It was amazing to see her and her sister loco Glenbrook at the “Great Western Steamup” in Carson, in '22.
But when you finally pull it out of the box, how do you display it and protect it from the cats?
Problem of 2 hero’s in the room fighting for attention.
Oh… and dust it?
Once I began seeing dust as “natural weathering,” my life got a bunch simpler.
It will be displayed in my shop and run on the layout. My cat isn’t allowed in there.
Problem with my shop dust, (And my trains are covered in it) is finger smudges,
Same here. We need to come up with a dust redistributor that disappears the smudges. “Can 'O Dust” with squeeze applicator and makeup brush?
You could also train the cat to be the track inspector. It’s actually easier than trying to herd cats. Actually, since she is mostly Maine Coon, Ruby tries to herd us.
Best, David Meashey
Dave I think, you will understand where this public service announcement about mostly Maine Coon Cats is coming from.
John,
I just heard that a mini steamup will take place at NSRM, and the Eureka and sister loco Glenbrook will both be there and (presumably) operating. It’ll be held Aug 29 to Sep 1 there in Carson, NV.
Other locos will also be there, but these are my fave’s by far.
Not sure if I can make it though; but maybe you can?
I can say that it’s a real thrill to be near these old wood-burners when they’re getting fired up in the morning, it’s like something very big coming to life.
Around 3 years ago, the Eureka & Glenbrook did a long double-header on the Cumbres & Toltec.
In 2022, they were together at the big steamup in Carson, and next year again at the mini steamup there.
Do the owners have their own fleet of trucks to get these locomotives on site or is this contracted out?
NSRM (home of the Glenbrook) & Dan Markoff (owner of the E&P) contract it out I believe.
There was a lengthy aerial vid loading a locomotive on trucks at the Carson station, but I couldn’t find it… Anyway here’s a bit of the E&P loading:
So the E&P is stored at a residence. Wow.
Even so, that’s some serious cash.
We hemmed & hawed at buying the Bachman.
