One of Ted's wooden horse drawn wagons

I finally finished this project. This is one of Ted Stinson’s kits. Took me a couple weeks and I made some mistakes but I am getting the feel for his kits.

Hey thats nice. I don’t see any mistakes! I’m just waiting to hear how some of these old timers used to ride one of those “both ways, up hill, in the snow” to school.

barefoot don' ya know ;)

Looks great!

BTW, only the really lucky old timers got to ride those uphill through the snow to school. The poor ones couldn’t afford horses, so they had to pull their own wagons; and they couldn’t afford wheels, so they had to drag them.

Very nice job on a really handsome model!

A few questions:

Is that what Northeast Narrow Gauge sells as a “1:20 Farm Wagon”?

Could you post some overall measurements?

Are they included in the kit, or did you provide the cargo items?

Thanks,

Jerry Bowers

Yes, this is what they sell as the 1:20 farm wagon The wagon from back to the end of the 2 poles is slightly over 10 inches Here’s another picture with one of the 1:20.3 Railroad Avenue figures, http://www.railroadavenue.com/

From the back to the fron of the wagon itself is 4 3/4 inches From the bottom of the wheels to the top of the wagon body is 3 inches From the bottom of the wheels to the very top of the seat back rest is 4 1/4 inches The rear wheels are 2 inches tall The front wheels are 1 5/8 tall The cargo does not come with the kit. However, there are what appears to be 4 milk containers that are includes with the kit.

Big thank you for the detailed dimensional information and the pix with the figure. Looks like ~1:20 to me! I haven’t seen one built before.

That whole series looks to be very usable for any 1:20 RR.

Happy RRing,

Jerry

And it's wot the young sprouts will be driving their grandkids to school in, if'n they aren't canoeing through the Nevada fjords.

Actually, my wife and I found some “very” realistic horses in just the right size in Oakland, OR. I will have to post some pictures of them.

Timmy ,
Well done , I have sent you a separate email . Nice work , keep it up .
Mike

Don Niday at Iron Creek Shops has really good looking draft horses in 1:20 scale resin castings. 3 or 4 poses as I remember. They would look great pulling heavy wagons. Perhaps not so applicable to a surrey or other light wagons.
