Large Scale Central

One more for the "Oh dear" file

Hi all,

Haven’t had your daily chuckle?

No problem, enjoy!

And I thought I was the one uncoupled from reality …
Well, my wife says I am, and I believe everything she says …
… or else

I like that safety chain idea. I bet Dave or you could make some of those Hans !

Bryan,

Sure, which of the many scales would you choose? :stuck_out_tongue:

BTW in my book the solution to that problem is installing a safety net just like they have in the circus.

One of the Queen Mary’s anchor chains should suffice …

Good Lord!
Just drill holes in the end of each car and run some small line from front to back.
If you don’t want to do that, just make solid drawbars to replace the couplers.
I can see him, trying to get sixteen cars at once on the track 8 feet in the air.

15 paragraphs just to say “I like hook & loops” ???

To be honest I couldnt read all of it, just too rambling.

I think he may have earned the nic so aptly given by TOC…McMoron!! I wonder if he has a music box in his locomotive…that plays his favorite Disney theme song…

I’m beginning to think one of those really heavy engines actually did fall off, landed on the noggin and he just doesnt remember any of it.

I had just read the LGB Family post, then saw HJ’s post / link.

I thought the primary argument the ventilators use in 100% defending the (don’t look like anything I’ve ever seen on a RR) hook & loop couplers was their forgiving of poor track and operating conditions along with the highest reliability. It seems like that belief is now seriously called into question by none other than the leading ventilator.

Funny how it seems to take a long time for some folks to see the facts. Of course the “. . . safety chain . . .” suggestion is a real hoot!!

Happy (Well Connected) RRing,

Jerry Bowers

I really hope that McM does not have any USA Trains as the hook and loop couplers from that manufacturer are identical to those offered by LGB. I can tell the difference with the offering from Bachmann. Now imagine the unthinkable if McM was to accidentally install a set of USA Trains hook and loop couplers to a sacrosanct Lehmann coach or loco. Would he be able to be sleep at night with such a potential catastrophe looming over his head? Of course some may comment that a derailment, with resultant concussion, may be a godsend (well it would not possibly cause any personal damage).

While I like the idea of an overhead railroad, I could not possibly imagine that someone would actually run a LGB train and fall asleep. That is a complete sacrilege and shows utter contempt and disrespect for the marque. Of course if another manufacturer brand was used then I would understand.

Tim,

One day the headline will read “Man killed by derailing train while asleep at the switch!”

Mark, you really don't want to know. :)

In a nutshell, a poor German to English translation of “LGB Fan” came out LGB Ventilator which seemed to be a perfect label for the wind bags that were floating all the wild speculation during the fall of LGB.

But then again, I really don’t care, but “I’m interested”

Hey Zubi,

What have you been smoking?

The way I heard it: real LGB Freaks can tell the difference because they shave a bit of Luran S in their porridge, the real LGB Freak’s substitute for cinnamon. But going by experience it really seems to upset their metabolism. The expression" Who pi…ed in your cereal?" doesn’t even start to cover it!

Jon,

It was the other way around, English to German. “LGB Fan” became “LGB Ventilator”, but it fit(s) perfectly.

Thanks HJ -

You know, I wrote it that way the first time, but changed it before I hit submit. Never second guess yourself
