Large Scale Central

Old West stuff

I built and “old west” building last winter. It is in a “old west” town that is the owners “hobby” and also utilized by movie producers as a set. I’ll be doing the interior this coming winter ( 2011 - 2012 ). Eventually I’ll construct a “bay window” that can be attached to the front to convert the building into a railroad station when a film group requires one. We have rail and ties to construct a bit of track that can be set in front and then with an assortment of baggage on the “board walk / platform” it becomes a “railroad station” for filming. Having a lot of fun. Also this coming winter will see if I can get a derelict trailer “ont the cheap” to gut out and use the interior to start building a 7/8 in. scale model railroad with the stuff I’ve been collecting for a few years. The trailer will get sheathed with plywood and “battens” and a sloped shingled roof so that it also becomes a part of the “town”.

See whut I’ve been doing . . . . here : http://www.drburkholter.com/cf13.html

Pretty kewl stuff!!! I love the 1873!!!

David, . . . Just recently bought another original '73 Winchester. 26 in Octegon barrel, made in the 1880s and with a very good bore. No really good pictures yet. Won’t get to shoot it until I get “home” to the Wild West Ranch in Novermber.

Living in the Big City make BP gun ownership somewhat difficult. I have repeatly warned the wife though that I would like to pick up somewhere down the line some cowboy "accessories " namely a Sharps center fire Carbine, a Remington Revolver Rifle and a Colt Dragoon pistol …oh, and a Clint Eastwood pancho to go with my hat.

Victor: If you did not live in such a far left state (my home state) you would not have that problem! Don’t own a Sharps Carbine, but I do have a .45-70 trap door musket, and yes I have fire it! I also have a Remington Revolver, .44 cal cap and ball and yes I have fired it as well.
