Old stuff, really old stuff

25 years ago I bought a VHS-C camcorder for one purpose: the 100th of the RhB. SLR shots were not quite up to the big occasion, this called for video.

A few weeks before we left for Switzerland the MRR gang decided on a “field trip” to Parry Sound and Sudbury. This is the segment around Parry Sound.
After looking at the footage on TV there were a few questions e.g. how does one compensate/correct the backlit scenes etc. etc… Basically it came down to reading the manual and hoping one would always have one’s back to the sun. Remember this was before my computer days and CompuServe groups etc.; never mind the Internet.

Nice Hans. I remember those days, before digital technology. With my trusty SLR in hand I would go out rail fanning and shoot what I thought were pretty good photographs. This was back in the seventies when GG1s were still running. Bottom line here is that the pictures I can take with my smart phone outdo anything I ever took with my Miranda, which was state of the art when I purchased it in Vietnam for $110.00 !!
