OK guys, pertinent question

:wink: … since I’ve only been in North America since April, 1969 I must have missed something very basic.

If you set this “?” (or multiples of same) after a sentence, does it really become a statement or is it a question.

i.e.

Hmmmmmmmm would that be a “Denial of Service” attack??? Would anyone have an interest in that, since EPLehmann GmbH & Co KG was to have an announcement today???

If one sets more than one “?” does that mean an emphasis or could it be that the writer’s finger got stuck on the keyboard.

Any help in this matter is appreciated, since the convention must differ from the German and I just didn’t notice or understand. :wink:

I usually use mulitple question marks to emphasize the question, and to try to provoke more introspection on the question.

Some people might use it in the way you describe, more as to say, “isn’t it obvious?”

Its just like verbally asking a question with a rising inflection; as in:

Are you OKiiieeeeeeuhhmmmmmmm?

I can just write;
Are you OK???

And its kinda inferred, yeah might be a week augument, but hey, I’m no English major

Thank you, gentlemen,

My “faith” has been restored. :wink: :slight_smile: I guess I was on the right track after all. :smiley:

You will also notice that I often use more than one period at the end of a sentence… or sometimes in the middle. That’s to get people to pause just a bit longer.!

If I washed the keyboard there wouldn’t be any leftovers…:frowning:
