Oh no!

I seem to have found myself the almost owner of a Roundhouse Sandy River #24 with full r/c and…a whistle!!!

Still not quite sure how it happened, but it involves me giving this dealer my White Pass Aster/LGB loco and a bunch of money. At least mine works with a reasonable train behind it, unlike some that we have heard of recently.

I’ll let yez all know how it goes, apart from chuff-chuff-chuff, that is.

As ever, Youtube will be involved in there somewhere.

Go TAC GO!

Hey Tac, that’s cool! I’ve always liked the 24 and you can’t go wrong with Roundhouse.

Cool  Looking forward to the video.

Well. compared to the Rockies, it’s new…it may be up to eight years old, and is the older type…hmmmmmmmmm. Much has been done to toot the model up since then, but not to this one, it smee.
I may well have one of the only two or three up-to-snuff WP mikes in existence, too.

Thinkin’ hard, now.

Another proud ROUNDHOUSE owner ! Well done Terry ! I like that engine too, but will never ever to be able to own one ! Never mind and be shure I don´t get green with envy: I am pleased you´ve got one at least . Engines I can not afford might go to other enthusiasts hands and that´s ok for me . Have much fun steaming her !

cheers Joe

Well, guys, it looks like I’ll be picking it up at the big 16mm Association show at Stoneleigh on 10 Arpil - and if I don’t like it I have a three mumf cooling of period…sounds fairy nuff, eh?

Gonna run something else while the sun is shining…a Shay sounds good to me., and about as fast as I can cope with right now

Was going to run something radio’d but all the batteries are flat…doh.

You said it , Terry !
A video might do the trick !
Next week I travel to Sweden to visit a guy, who organised a steam toy fair at the local library in Sala /Sweden ! I know him from a steam up held at Wuppertal /Germany and he came way down from Sweden to attend ! We had a nice day there and it was decided to do that kind of gathering again !

And now it´s my turn to travel !

cheers Joe

Mornin’, Joe - if you are going to southern Sweden, please give my regards to Skane - my ancestors came from there about 850 AD - maybe I still have a relative!

Best wishes

The deal is a off. It was an uneconomical proposition. As a few folks pointed out, for a measly $500 more I could have had a brand-new one [sans r/c - something I already have and easy to fit anyhow].

This one, in real life, looked like it had been to the outer planets and back.

Next time, maybe.

Ouch, good thing you found out before money was exchanged. How could anyone mistreat their steamer?

Well, Jerry old floon, 'tis like this. It wasn't zackly mistreated as such, it's just that if I'd been told that young George Washington had played with it before he chopped the cherry tree down, I would have had no problem bleeving it. Mr Marconi would have instantly recognised the r/c set-up, too.

You know that patina a well-used and well-loved toy has after a few generations have played with it? Well, Sir, this could have been the very model they talk about on the Antiques Road show as an example.

No regrets here, BTW, there are always plenty of other steamies around over here.

Best

I guess it was well used and loved.

Jerry - of that were was never any doubt. However, I enjoy the opportunity to make a few of MY steamers look well-used and loved - but only AFTER I buy them.

Take care.
