Large Scale Central

Odds and sods

I’m always on the lookout for things to use for large scale. Many many moons ago I ran across Hirst Arts, a company that makes molds for tabletop gaming. I just started looking at them again, buying some molds for a game that I play, and found a few that are usable for us.

First up, we have mold #211, the Large Cobblestone mold. Jersey George for scale.

Next up are #274, Steel Bridge, and #320 (and #321) Pipes.

Those are not all the pieces from each mold. Those pipe pieces are #320, the 5/8" mold, but they also have #321, for 3/8" pipe.

I cast these in dental plaster, but I will make a second-generation mold from these and cast the bits in resin.

I thought this was going to about the old Who album

:stuck_out_tongue:

OOoOoooohhhh wery interestink

Very cool! I may be ordering some of those for my games.

Bob, what game do you play?

Large scale people are so cool. We see trains everywhere.

Checked out their website and there is a whole host of way to cool useable stuff there. Why make another mold for resin casting Bob? What wrong with the mold from them? I am very interested i there product and am wondering why your going this route?

Terry: We play Robo Rally, and I have a passing interest in Warhammer (not 40K) and Space Hulk.

Devon: Resin eats mold material like crazy. You’ll generally get maybe 30 good pulls from a mold until the resin has dried out the mold to the point that you start tearing pieces off it. At $30+ a mold, I’d rather make disposable copies myself.

I see that makes sense Bob. Thanks for the site and advice

Robo Rally seems cool. My group used to be huge into warhammer. To many rules and model changes drove some of the guys away from it though.

If you’re bored check out Dust. It’s an alternate WW2 setting. The group really likes it. Plus there is a decent amount of model painting and building. Dust keeps me wanting to build an On30 layout. 1 because I have a crap ton of ho code 100 track and 2 because dust is all 1/48 scale so the buildings could have a dual use. We could even play on the layout.

Bolt Action looks neat, too, for WWII.

“Odds and Sods” ?

This is so cool! I can read an entire posting twice and still have absolutely no idea what you guys are talking about.

Then a second posting from our BD - “Bolt Action looks neat, too, for WWII.”

I think I understand the WWII as “World War Two”, but honest to GOD , I’m no longer even sure I got that right.

I remember and understand this old quote from some one on these sites - “I live in my own little world, its okay, they know me there”
