Large Scale Central

Odd/interesting one

I was recently given a large batch of mixed model railroad stuff, including some n-scale, HO-scale, American Flyer s-gauge, and some old tin plate items. This was in the batch.

It appears to be HO-scale, or will run on HO track. It is plastic with a cast metal chassis. It is wind-up. On the rear, in tiny letters it says “Made in U.S. Zone Germany”. Anyone seen one of these, or know what it is?

i ignore, by whom it was made, but “Made in U.S. Zone Germany” gives it a timeframe and an area.
it must have been built between may 1945 and may 1949 (later it would be labeled: “Made in West Germany” - before 1945 it would have been labeled: “Made in Germany”.
the location of the U.S. Occupation Zone Germany was south-germany, mainly Bavaria.
Zonengrenze

the only german toytrain builder for that time in Bavaria, that i know of, would be Märklin.
so, i would suspect, that this could be one of the first post-WW2 models of Märklin.

Thanks for the info!

I think there is a VERY strong possibility that it could be Biller Bahn.
