I bought this kit on ebay, a long time ago. There were parts in it for 3 Carter type coaches using Plan 58 from GR. I read this article on MLS a couple of months back about building a carter brother coaches from a kit. Now, the kit I had was very basic, not much more than a body and some sparce detail based on no particular road. Unfortuanately I scraped most of the kit except for one set of trucks(which were completely finished). Using the strip wood and plywood in the kit, I recut everything to look like a prototypical Oahu Coach.
All though this bares a resemblance to OR&L coaches, it is too short; OR&L coaches are 41 foot while this coach is 36. OR&L coaches are also 8’ 3" wide, this coach is barely 8’ wide. It was my first coach and has encouraged me to build the famous Dillingham car next, which is an observation car. The remaining wood in the kit will come in handy since Dillinghams car was 36 feet long. However, I’m planning on framing this car entirely, so I won’t be using the extra plywood from the kit.
