NT/OT Shot Heard Round the World

Today was the day shots were fired on the Lexington Green…

“By the rude bridge that arched the flood,
Their flag to April’s breeze unfurled;
Here once the embattled farmers stood;
And fired the shot heard round the world.”

 • Ralph Waldo Emerson, Concord Hymn, (1837), immortalizing the skirmish at the Old North Bridge, Concord, Massachusetts on April 19, 1775

“Lay down your arms, you damned rebels…”

My first wifes’ Great, Great, Great Grandmother was present, tho just a young girl.
The retelling of the story on this day, is part of my ex-s’ family tradition.

My mad friend in England says, “Those were Englishmen who rebelled. You Americans have never rebelled against anything.”

Obviously, your English friend does not read this website.

We are in the process of doing some family research but there was always a standing joke in the family that we were related to Benedict Arnold. After some reaearch there may be more truth to it than we ever knew!

Mebbe not, but we can be quite revolting!

George Washington has 2 over due library books!

And privation and sacrifice to today’s generation is half a day without junk food, video games and cell phones… We’ve come far in 235 years, haven’t we?

Since it was called a Revolution, aren't we then 'revolving'?

I think we are "evolving"

or de-volving.

…or just plain revolting.

Today they’d be called “violent anti-government extremists”.

One man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter.
