NT/OT on PBS this month “The Legend of Pancho Barnes” Heads up all you aviation types, PBS will be airing a new documentary starting this month on a legend of aviation, Pancho Barnes, one of the first female aviators, test pilot and record breaker and later made famous to a new generation in Tom Wolfes book “The Right Stuff” with tales of her exploits at her place outside Edwards Air Force Base, the “Happy Bottom Riding Club” hanging out with the likes of Chuck Yeager and Scott Crossfield, yes…THAT Pancho Barnes! Got a chance to see the unrated non-TV NC-17 version of this documentary and Ho-boy was it an absolute hoot! too bad the TV version is slightly sanitized for more gentile folk. Chuck Full of amazing film, and archive photos thought long lost in the fire that destroyed to Happy Bottom Riding Club. This is definetly worth looking out for. Its starting here on KOCE 50 on the 15th and then on there stations around but check your local listings for times in April and May, might take some time to disseminate around the country, but I’m giving you the head up that this documentary exists.
