Large Scale Central

Now this is a smoke system

30 seconds indoors and I had to bail out

Had to modify the Hudson in a non-reversible way to fit this thing in here. Nice says I  Easily 5 feet into the air.   Draws 2 amps but I’m on battery power and will have a quick change battery in the tender just for the smoke. After running live steam I’m stuck needing a good smoke system to make it look good.

A little breeze here.

Here’s the battery I’ll use…got 3 of them… note this is Lithium Polymer…not as hazardous as some say but I do charge it on the bench while I’m around. All the RC guys use batteries like this.

Very impressive. What system is that? You need a movie of it in action!

Here are two more with the shell on… movies later this week. Too much for a dismal…but I plan on trying to modulate the voltage. Possibly hooking it up to another Airwire decoder on 12 volts and using the motor output…

Does it come in different flavors? Coal, wood, oil…?

Toxic? That may create a little over exposure. And here Doc Tom is worried about Styrene. Wait till the gummerment gets hold of this one.

Nice!

That’s pretty wild. Looks like you might need to haul a tanker full of smoke fluid with a continuous feed system
Ralph

Just the one flavor…using Crest (Aristocraft) oil that came with it.

How hot does it get?
I have an MTH smoke unit, but it gets hot.
Puts out plumes, tho.

And I thought the MTH Big Boy did pretty well…evidently not.

Now that’s more like it!!! Much better than the “usual” whiff of cigarette smoke you see elsewhere.

Please do a video if you get the chance.

Not if its an early Alco.

Wow !! you run a smoke unit like that in my neighborhood and we would start a full wildland fire response.

You model train guys are nuts!

Holy moley

Use some Citronella and you can keep the mosquitoes at bay, too…

Just don’t use kerosene and run it around your Christmas tree

Here’s a YouTube video of the system running in my yard. I’m still liking it

That does look good. How long does it last?

I don’t know yet…the instructions say 20 minutes. I’ll figure it out when I get a chance to play longer.
